Al-Ahli superstar Riyad Mahrez has granted an exclusive interview to the SPL official X platform account, in which he has opened up about his start in the Saudi Professional League.
“We have a loud crowd, a great crowd that supports us and I love this passion, and we will do everything we can to deliver the best season.” he said.
He added: “It is possible that the technical level in Saudi Arabia is the strongest in the Middle East. I did not know how close the level was compared to Europe.”
He pointed out: “Since my arrival I have played approximately 7 matches and I think it is a good level, and it can get better. It is really exciting. I have never experienced anything like this before.”
He continued: “I love the fans here, and sometimes when you don’t play well or we lose, they continue to encourage us. We really need this support because sometimes we go through difficult periods. As I said, this is the beginning, and we will achieve many things.”
He concluded: “I say to the fans, support us and remain patient, because we will achieve big things together. There is a lot of talent here, and many players have been brought in to work with them and progress football. It is an amazing thing.”
