Al-Ahli superstar winger Riyad Mahrez has opened up on his transfer from Manchester City to the Saudi Professional League in the latest transfer window, speaking in an exclusive interview granted to the French newspaper L’Equipe.

He continued: ““Txiki” Begiristain (Manchester City technical director) really wanted me to stay, and even Pep Guardiola. They made it clear to me.”

He concluded: “I weighed the pros and cons. And finally, I decided to leave. I don’t regret it, I’m happy to be here.
