The Japanese national team right-back Seiya Maikuma has shown some good quality in the game against Indonesia, this Wednesday, in the third round of the AFC Asian Cup.

The player has been solid in defensive duels while bringing some offensive value, which could make an asset for some Saudi Professional League clubs, most notably, that he still plays in the Japanese league, which would make more attainable.

His profile of a player who can play as a wing-back fits clubs like Al-Raed, who plays generally with a 3/5/2, and wants their right-back to make runs behind the opposing defenders when crosses are being played.

The top quality of Maikuma in the game were his sudden runs in behind, coming out from nowhere to invade the box, and what was special from him, is that he could get to ground to reach crosses from his teammates when they are poorly played.

He did not take time to control the crosses, on the opposite, he hit the counter-pass immediately to create confusion.

Defensively, he has shown toughness in physical duels, but should close the passing angle better when he advances on the opposing winger near the touchline.

His counter-press was great to stop opposing counters, being aggressive, physically imposing to prevent his man from making the turn.
