Al-Taawoun were only victory away from sealing the qualifying ticket to the AFC Champions League Two ahead of Al-Ittihad, but the latter have seen their hopes remain alive and even increase.

Al-Taawoun have dropped points, last Thursday, against Al-Fayha, while Al-Ittihad have thrashed Damac 4-1, to narrow the gap into 2 points.

The former team now would need to get to win their final game against Al-Ettifaq to avoid entering into complicated calculations, while the latter would have to beat Al-Nassr, hoping that they would as reported play with a revamped squad, and wait for a favor from Steven Gerrard to stop their direct rivals for the continental spot.
